The Environmental Education Centre at Global Renewables is visited by 300 classes from Lancashire and Blackpool schools each year (funded by Lancashire County and Blackpool Councils as part of their Waste Strategy). The 7-11 year olds are challenged to bring a ‘zero waste packed lunch’ to eat in the lunch room where they can see a mural depicting the huge variety of food that is grown and produced across Lancashire.

This mural is now available online as a fantastic interactive learning resource featuring facts and myths about local produce and how the some food can be changed to create new food, like milk to cheese. The mural shows how land and food changes over the region and identifies the positive implications of reduced food miles and packaging associated to local food.
